Preheat oven to 350°F and arrange oven rack in the upper third of the oven.
Wash, dry, pit, and roughly chop cherries. Place in a small saucepan.
Wash, dry, zest, and juice orange into the pan with the cherries. Add honey and cardamom, then stir to combine and bring to a simmer over medium heat.
Meanwhile, place brie in a small baking dish. Place in the preheated oven and bake until warm, about 10 minutes. Remove from oven.
While the brie is baking, in a small bowl, make a slurry by whisking water with cornstarch until smooth.
When the liquid in the saucepan is simmering, add slurry in a steady stream while stirring continuously. Continue to simmer until sauce thickens, about 2 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
While the sauce is simmering, cut baguette on the diagonal into ½-inch thick slices. Arrange on a large baking sheet pan in a single layer.
When the brie is done, change oven to broil on high.
Place baking sheet in the oven and broil, flipping baguette slices halfway through, until lightly toasted, 2-3 minutes. Remove from oven.
Meanwhile, roughly chop pistachios.
Transfer warm brie to a platter, then top with cherry compote and pistachios. Serve with baguette toasts on the side and enjoy!
