That year, a few women who traded recipes conjured up an easy-to-prepare pie crust mix and named it Krusteaz (crust + ease). They went door to door, cafe to cafe, selling their creation. A few years later that same entrepreneurial spirit led us to create the first-ever just add-water pancake mix. A lot has changed since 1932, but some things haven't. Directions 7-Inch Round Waffles (2-3): 1-1/2 cups mix; 2/3 cup water; 1 egg(s); 2 tbsp oil. 7-Inch Round Waffles (4-5): 3 cups mix; 1-1/3 cups water; 2 egg(s); 1/3 cup oil. 7-Inch Round Waffles (9-10): full box mix; 2-3/4 cups water; 4 egg(s); 2/3 cup oil. Tip: For best results, use cold water. 1. Heat waffle iron. Heat and lightly grease waffle iron. 2. Whisk waffle mix, water, egg(s) and oil. Measure mix by lightly spooning it into measuring cup and leveling it off. Whisk mix, water, egg(s) and oil until smooth. Let batter stand 2 minutes. Pour about 2/3 cup batter onto waffle iron. 3. Cook until golden. Cook waffles until steaming stops or until golden brown. High Altitude: No adjustment necessary. Cheddar & Sage Waffles: 3 cups Krusteaz Belgian Waffle Mix; 1-1/2 cups water; 2 eggs; 1/3 cup oil; 1 tbsp fresh sage, finely chopped; 1 tbsp chives, finely chopped; 1/2 tsp black pepper; 1/2 cup sharp cheddar cheese. In medium bowl, whisk mix, water, eggs, oil and seasonings. Stir in cheese. Pour batter onto lightly greased, preheated waffle iron. Cook waffles until steaming stops or until golden brown. Serve with bacon, if desired. Makes 4-5 waffles.
